Australian Aboriginal art dates back more than 30,000 years. The paintings and rock art in the sacred caves in northern Australia stand witness to the immense expressive qualities of the Aborigines. They have used many styles and media to disseminate their art, figuratively or abstractly, such as rock and stone, bark or sculptures such as totems or ritual objects.
European settlers ignored Aboriginal art for a very long time. However, since the 1970, the Aboriginal emancipation movements has brought their art to our attention, by creating a real contemporary art movement of unique beauty.
During this workshop, the children will explore Aboriginal aesthetics by seeking inspiration in current artworks. They will create their own creations using a variety of media.
