“Composition 10” (1939) by Vassily Kandinsky

Children will use shapes and colors in the manner of the “father” of abstract painting, Vassily Kandinsky. They will focus on the 10th and last composition of the painter. The key characteristic of this artwork is the quiet black ocean against which colors and figures emerge.

Kandinsky has always expressed a great aversion to black, and it is symbolically interesting that he chose this color as the dominant shade of his last composition.
